Cream cheese is one of my weaknesses, and if I’m making a party dip, it absolutely has to be included. It’s delicious no matter how you serve it! Cold, hot, savory, sweet, spicy, or anything in-between. This quick and easy cream cheese taco dip is no exception. It has become my go-to appetizer for parties because not only is it fast to throw together ahead of time, it’s always the first thing to disappear.

Ingredients
- 8 ounces softened cream cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1½ tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- Any and all of your favorite taco toppings such as black beans, corn, tomatoes, olives, cilantro, green onion, bell peppers, jalapenos, etc.
- Don’t forget the tortilla chips for serving!
Step 1
In a medium size bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning until smooth. I suggest using a hand mixer to get out the lumps from the cream cheese. Spread the mixture onto the bottom of a 7×11 or 9×9 dish. A round pie dish also works!
Step 2
Evenly sprinkle on about one cup of shredded cheese such as cheddar, Colby jack, a Mexican blend, or a combination of cheeses. Any soft shredded cheese will work, you could even include some crumbled Cotija.
Step 3
Layer on your taco toppings as desired. I love to include a variety of colors and textures to make this dip yummy and visually appealing on the appetizer table.

Easy Cream Cheese Taco Dip
Ingredients
- 8 ounces softened cream cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1½ tbsp taco seasoning
- 1+ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Colby jack, etc.)
- cold taco toppings such as drained black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, black olives, cilantro, green onion, etc.
- Tortilla chips for serving
Instructions
- In a medium size bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Start with about 1½ tablespoons of seasoning and add more if desired.
- Spread the mixture onto the bottom of a 7x11 or 9x9 dish. A round pie dish or any shallow dish comparable in size will also work.
- Evenly sprinkle the mixture with about one cup of shredded cheese and then layer on your taco toppings as desired.
- Cover and store in the fridge until ready to eat. Serve cold with tortilla chips or Fritos Scoops!
Notes
- Are you serving a large crowd? You could always double the recipe and place it in a 9x13 dish. You could also serve this dip with a side of guacamole and salsa for variety. They're all delicious with tortilla chips, served cold, and can be made ahead of time so they make for the perfect companions at parties.
- Looking for topping ideas? Anything taco related works well including drained and rinsed black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, diced bell pepper, sliced black olives, cilantro, green onions, jalapenos, etc. I recommend serving anything spicy or commonly unliked on the side.
