If you like to send gifts in the mail, you’ve got to try decorating the inside of the box for that extra special touch. You can do this for birthdays, holidays and more! It turns an ordinary box into something a little more exciting.

A few years ago I sent my adult son a Halloween gift box loaded with candy and a few other treats. After loading the box full of his favorite chocolate, I thought the box could have used a little extra spookiness, so I got to work decorating the inside of the box tabs with supplies I had on hand.

I simply cut out colorful craft paper to size and then glued the paper to the inside of the top of the box. I then attached stickers and a few other Halloween themed craft supplies I had laying around. I liked the outcome so much, I’ve decorated all of my mailed packages in the same way ever since!

Decorating Tips

  • If you have a printer at home, you can print out anything that fits the theme. You could even print out funny jokes, memes or a few of your own photos.
  • Get artistic and try drawing or even painting on the cardboard. There’s no need to spend any money! Get creative with whatever you have on hand.
  • Instead of decorating the tabs, you could use that area to write a letter, story, or shared memory. Try writing directly on the box with a marker or even gluing on something handwritten or printed.

Upgrade the inside of an ordinary cardboard box for any occasion including birthdays, baby showers, wedding gifts, Christmas presents, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and more.
