Ingredients

  • 1 (8oz) tube crescent dough
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs (blended & seasoned)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Brown and chop the sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove any excess grease.
  • Place the crescent dough in a single layer onto the bottom of your greased dish and press the seams together with your fingers.
  • Top the dough with your browned sausage and then pour the blended eggs over top. Evenly sprinkle on the shredded cheese.
  • Bake in the center rack of your oven for about 30 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked through and the cheese starts to brown.

Notes

  • If you prefer for your cheese to be more gooey and less toasty, you can lightly cover the dish with foil for part of the baking time.
  • The Jimmy Dean sausage if packed full of flavor so you really don't need much seasoning in your eggs, if any at all. Go easy on the salt as the sausage and crescent dough are both loaded with it.
  • Serve this savory breakfast casserole alone or with a side of avocado, freshly diced tomatoes,  your favorite condiments, or a colorful side of fruit.
  • If you want to add some veggies, try sautéing diced bell peppers, onions, and maybe even some zucchini with the sausage mixture. Raw spinach could even be added in after the sausage layer.
  • You can brown and chop the sausage the night before and reheat it in the microwave to save a bit of time in the morning. The rest seriously takes less than 5 minutes to prepare!
